She graduated from High Point University with a bachelor’s degree in special education and has a master’s degree in counseling. From her experience in working with children and teens over the last eight years, she has a strong knowledge-base of their developmental needs. In her early career she gained experience working with children with mild to moderate disabilities. Currently, Cera enjoys working with youth and adolescents providing individual therapy and including family members into treatment as appropriate. In therapy, Cera takes a collaborative approach and strives to create a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental environment in which clients can share, process, and work toward creating lasting change in their lives. When practicing, Cera uses an integration of person-centered, mindfulness-based and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She has had postgraduate training in incorporating yoga into therapy for trauma victims. She particularly enjoys helping those with anxiety, depression, grief, self-acceptance, the LGBT+ community, and other stressors children and adolescents face.
